4000 signatures and today's protest.

Weston-super-Mare Constituency Labour Party
4 lug 2017
Hi again all.
We passed 4000 signatures this morning, thank you all.
Also today Weston-super-Mare Labour Party (www.westonlabour.org.uk) took part in a demonstration outside of the hospital to mark the fact that tonight is the night the overnight closure of the A&E is due to start.
We were proud to protest alongside Protect Our NHS, Local activists, Green party members, Unison, Unite, Prospect, PCS, ATL, NUT, and other Union's members.
We were protesting as part of our joint campaigns to stop the dangerous overnight closure of West General Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department. Around 100 people and representatives have also also attended the Weston Area Health Trust Board meeting today, the room was packed out.
Amongst those at the protest and the meeting were Tim Taylor, Labour Candidate for Weston-super-Mare, and Tessa Munt from Wells Liberal Democrats.
But no sign at all of Weston-super-Mare MP John Penrose !! We have to ask ourselves why he wasn't there this morning at the protest or the meeting?
Perhaps it's because he lives in London?
Perhaps because he supports the dismantling of our NHS by his failed government?
It's time for the Conservative party to recognise the truth, that they have failed and are continuing to fail this country and it's communities. They found found their "magic money tree" when they needed £1billion to prop up their fragile regime, yet they can't find the funding required to properly incentivise recruitment at our hospital, or many others.
Finally a big thank you to the BBC, ITV, The Weston Mercury, The Western Daily Press, and others from the media for coming down to cover our protest today. Look out for the story on BBC Points West, ITV West, and in the Weston Mercury.
Thank you all we will keep fighting.
