The proposed Uplands development does not meet even the MINIMUM requirement for Public Land Dedication - only 60% of city requirement--an incentive to the developer to build more. The only open space this area of the city has is the farm.
The City water supply is already 10% over-allocated and we are living in a constant severe drought. The surrounding neighborhoods are 6 degrees hotter than affluent tree-lined areas to the north. Putting another urban heat island into the poorest neighborhoods only harms this community further.
While the city has neglected this area for decades, this development proposal will only exacerbate the over-congested roads, schools, and infrastructure.
Don't let private developers' high-paid PR and greed determine the quality of life and the environmental consequences that will result from approval of this "plan".
Please join the community in telling the City Council to vote No Uplands!
