The unprecedented happened at the town council meeting last Monday with the council voting 5-2 not in favor of the Wood Wind PUD. Mayor Cook delivered a press release Monday stating he could not support this project because he could see that it was not what residents want for our community. Thanks to Cindy Spoljaric, Joe Edwards, Chuck Lehman, Mark Keen and Jim Ake for voting NO and denying the request for this PUD. Council members Steve Hoover and Bob Horkay (who's son works for Pulte), voted YES. This petition played a key part in getting the word out that there is growing concern about "irresponsible development ". There were countless responses from citizens whose plans to make Westfield their "forever home" have changed and they have moved or are going to move out of the city because of the rampant growth. While this was an historic win for the citizens of Westfield, there will be more proposed developments like the numerous others already approved and under construction. Mayor Cook urged the city council members to consider what is best for the future of Westfield. The Comprehensive Plan was last revised in 2007 and it IS our master plan for the city and the Wood Wind PUD did not follow it. Because of your letters written to the APC, Council members and Mayor Cook, we were able to make a difference! I urge you to continue to voice your opinion. Numbers matter, your voices were heard!
