The Australian Government has published their Aviation Whitepaper, looking at the future of the aviation industry in Australia;

https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/infrastructure-transport-vehicles/aviation/aviation-white-paper

In doing so the Government has shown complete disregard and disrespect for parliamentary process as well as the residents of Western Sydney.

The Aviation Whitepaper clearly states that the Albanese Government does not support any form of restriction on airport operations. They do not support curfews, flight caps, or long term operating plans. This is despite the fact that there is currently a Senate Inquiry into the Impact and Mitigation of Aircraft Noise underway as well as the fact that the Environmental Impact Assessment for the operational design and flight paths for Western Sydney airport has not been completed.

The government's reasoning is that they want to provide certainty to investment into the aviation industry. They could provide the same certainty by declaring a curfew at all Australian airports. They also conveniently ignore the scientific certainty that aircraft noise will negatively affect the health and well-being of thousands of people.

This is a very clear statement from the government that they place corporate profits ahead of the health and well-being of the Australian people and that they intend to ignore any adverse findings from either the Senate inquiry or the EIS process.

The government's only concession to aircraft noise mitigation is that they intend to publish a voluntary set of guidelines for pilots to fly considerately. That's like scrapping all road laws and suggesting that people drive considerately.

The next public hearing for the Senate inquiry is in Canberra on Friday 20th September. Details can be found at;
