Western Rail Trail
Dec 16, 2019

Challenging Authority and using civic disruption to make our point, We need to be taken seriously and the only way to do that is shout FOUL!  I made a freedom of Information  in November to the Department of Transport  asking for the Rail Review report was very simple and cost nothing. The Department has refused to release it.  Did you know any citizen can fire off an FOI request. It costs nothing and unlike signing petitions and sending emails asking questions of politicians the FOI department of any Government body is obliged to answer your request by law. In truth; We can all put in an FOI to the department and probably tie up the Departmental workload for weeks as each case has to be considered on merit. So Why not?

Anyone of us can do this, so why not send thousands of FOI requests in?:

Email to: foi@dttas.gov.ie and for the sake of fun why don’t we open copy our request to minister@dttas.ie and to taoiseach@taoiseach.gov.ie Just take five minutes from the pre Christmas rush and do it.

Ask this: Under the regulations of the Freedom of Information Act I am hereby making an application to receive a full copy (electronic format is acceptable) of the independent report into the future of the Western Rail Corridor submitted to the Department of Transport in the past few months by EY Consulting. This report was paid for by public funds and I would like to see a full copy of the report as delivered to the Department.

Thank you. Then put your name and private address on the email and press send. It is that easy. Imagine if they got several hundred FOI requests the week before Christmas. Just do it folks and let us know if you have with comment below.
