Please if you can send a short submission to Sligo coco in support of the Sligo Greenway route on the closed railway, this is the preferred route for all of us, but we can still expect opposition from the diehards opposed to the greenway, Key points to make are: to email address greenway@sligococo.ie
Firstly please say you support the greenway route on the closed railway!
The route requires no Compulsory purchase order as it is owned by irish rail, this was a key issue in the national greenway strategy to use publically owned land for greenways.
Using the old trackbed is the most cost efficient way of building a greenway.
That greenways on old closed railways have been a great success cite things like the waterford and great western greenway,
That the route goes directly through towns and villages so its use will be maximised by local people and for children going to school,
That it will make South sligo a more attractive place to live with such an amenity, that a greenway will protect the route in public ownership forever, who knows railway might comeback someday!
Give your own story why you support the idea. Thanks take five to rattle off a quick email to greenways@sligococo.ie Thanks! Brendan
