With the country all but closed down due to the great White out, my guess is lots of folk will be catching up on social media, personal emails and internet browsing So if you are warm at home catching up on internet stuff, please spare our campaign five minutes. Firstly to remind you the purpose of this petition is to raise awareness of our campaign and to put pressure on politicians; the petition in itself won’t change things, only people can do that, you have already signed the petition what other action could you take from the comfort of your own home? So on this snowy cold day here are five things you can do to help us get to 10,000 signatures. 1. Share again. Repost the petition on facebook. Tweet it. Take time out to email a few contacts directly. If we all bring in one more signature today think of the power we give ourselves. We have the potential to be 15,000 strong in one day! 2. Email a politician. They are bunkered up in the snow. Copy paste the petition link and email politicians in the west and let them know why you support this idea, particularly good if you live in Galway, Mayo or Sligo. 3. Tell friends and family. Talk to someone. Tell them about the campaign. Tell them how they can simply sign up for this petition at least. Get your friends and family involved. Get Teenagers involved 4. Think about getting active – if you live in Sligo Galway or Mayo. In Sligo look up the Sligo greenway co-op on facebook, ask them how you can join their movement. In Mayo do the same for the Kiltimagh Greenway group and in Galway the Athenry Tuam Milltown greenway group. Think about becoming active! 5. Ah yes, money, not much and not really necessary if you have done 1 – 4 above but hey, one way to spread the message is to boost the petition. Thank you to those who already have. For just €4, less than the price of a pint, you could boost the petition to 400 likeminded people. We know this works because each time we spend just €4 our numbers grow as the petition gets seen by more like minded people. Imagine if all 6,800 of us spent just €2 boosting the petition, 1.36 million people would see the petition! We know we would hit 50,000 signatures very quickly. Then we could not be ignored.
