A letter in this week's Post celebrating the return of a cat after 18 months on the prowl. Why are the owners proud of this?  The narrative must change - it is not a good reflection on you or your pet keeping skills when you lose your cat for months or years on end.

Why aren't similar protections afforded to our native animals? Although most people wouldn't dream of hurting or poaching, by owning a cat and letting it roam the owner becomes an accessory to murder of native animals. 

All of this is preventable by amending the Cat Act to restrict cats to their owner's property.
