Utah's Reptile Rescue Service has been working with unwanted, abandoned, injured, and sick reptiles, wildlife and more since 1998. As Utah's largest full reptile rescue, we are running out of space to house all of the animals. Finding a location to house them, have a yard for them, keep open to the public, and in a desired location is hard. Now, we are in an undersized, crowded, and far location that is not living up to the expectations we want to hold for these amazing animals. There is one place we have our mind and heart set on, in our old town of West Valley City, Utah. There is an old, abandoned shelter that used to house West Valley Animal Shelter. This location is currently building up trash, weeds, and a bad look for the city. We believe if we can acquire this location we can make it look nice, clean it up, give the community something the are proud of having in their neighborhood, and to top it all off our hundreds of abandoned reptile, wildlife and dogs will have a large, safe, warm, permanent place to call home.. With a home in this prime location we can build up a sanctuary for these animals and for people to visit and learn. We can get more volunteers and donations to help the animals, more land for them to play and explore, a way to give them a bigger enclosure, we can do more adoptions, event, and be closer to our veterinarian when the animals need care, closer to the pet store to get food. All in all, if we could move the Reptile Rescue to the old West Valley Animal Shelter the animals would be in better living conditions, we could help more out, adopt more out and give the community a nice location that they are proud of, the children to learn at, people can visit and volunteer. This could all be going on instead of this building housing an eye sore and dumping ground.  The only problem is West Valley City will not give up the building to a shelter, to something that would be better for the community as a whole.
