New Selsey Pedestrian Crossing

New Selsey Pedestrian Crossing

The Issue

Please support me in requesting a Zebra crossing to be built/installed on Chichester Road, Selsey (near the old police station) ideally further up past the bus stop to avoid any disruption.

The why?

The footpath on Chichester Road leads to an alleyway which takes you into the park at the back of the Selsey Centre, local nursery, play area and dog walking area. It is used by a range of different pedestrians such as school children, elderly people, dog walkers and mothers with prams.

Chichester Road deals with a large amount of traffic being one of the main roads into Selsey village. Trying to cross that road is hard work on your own, let alone with a dog, a child or a pram. I have seen so many people struggle to cross the road due to the amount of traffic, some end of having to do a little jog to make sure they get over in time (myself being one of them and with a pram).

Some may say "So what if it takes you a few minutes to cross the road due to traffic". That is not the reason for this request, although it would be an added bonus to cross over straight away. The main reason is to be able to cross the road to get to a footpath which takes you into a children's park SAFELY. Building a zebra crossing here will keep pedestrians safe. If you don't walk near this area then fair enough but please think about those that do (School children, children going to the park, elderly people, dog walkers, cyclists and mothers with prams) or even go try it out for yourself to see if you feel it is an issue that needs sorting.

I hope I can get a good number of you onboard. This will then support my request to the West Sussex Highways. Without the local support this does not go ahead.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH
