Get West Sussex County Council to rethink their refusal to grit some of our major routes

The Issue

Whilst we appreciate the need to balance spending with service provision, it’s reckless in the extreme to abandon some of our counties major road infrastructure this winter.

Just one example of this short sighted approach would be Stein road in Southbourne. Stein road has primary and secondary schools located on it. It is a main route used by many, and refusing to grit it places school children at risk, both on their journey by car or as pedestrians walking along next to a potentially icy road. In addition, it will make it difficult for children and teachers to make it to the school in adverse conditions.

There has been quite enough disruption to travel caused by roadworks in the area recently and we feel it is high time that the council gave proper consideration to the road infrastructure in and around Chichester.
