West Island 971/47P Bus Frequency
The Issue
Every morning, students and professionals stand at the North Street bus stop in West Island, hoping to catch the 971/47P bus. Unfortunately, many of us are disappointed as we watch full buses pass by, knowing we'll be late for school or work. This is not just an inconvenience, it disrupts our daily lives, academic commitments, and professional responsibilities.
The current bus frequency during peak hours between 7:40 and 8:00 am is simply inadequate to accommodate the demand of our community. West Island School students, in particular, depend heavily on the 971/47P bus route to reach school on time. However, due to overcapacity, only half of the passengers can board the bus at North Street, leaving the rest. This issue extends beyond student commuters, affecting all local public members at further stops attempting to reach their destinations punctually.
This persistent problem calls for immediate action. Increasing the morning frequency of the 971/47P bus route will enable more community members to access reliable public transportation, ensuring punctuality and reducing the stress and uncertainty associated with daily commutes. As well as protection GMB’s passengers from the current safety issues on the overfilled buses, going past the maximum bus capacity.
We urge GMB to allocate additional buses during the key morning hours of 7:40 to 8:00 am. This actionable solution is feasible and directly addresses the overcrowding issue, thus enhancing the transportation experience for all involved. By improving the availability and frequency of buses during this critical time, we can foster a more efficient public transport system that meets the needs of every commuter.
We need your support to bring about this much-needed change. Please sign this petition to advocate for increased bus frequency, ensuring that all members of our community can access timely, reliable public transit every morning.
