Eneabba Residents United Against Fracking
An article by journalist Adam Poulsen from the MidWest Times was published today talking about the petition (now with 2,000 signatures) and the concerns the Eneabba locals have about the risks of contaminated water.
The article also touches on the fact that UIL Energy is currently pressing farmers to do seismic testing on their properties in search of gas reserves despite there being a moratorium (which seems ethically quite wrong).
This photo was taken earlier this week when I spent some time chatting with Melanie and Stuart on their farm. I've known this loving, conscious couple for over 8 years. It's difficult to imagine what the future will hold for their farm if fracking isn't banned. Farmers like Melanie and Stuart all across Western Australia are under extreme pressure to sign and allow fracking on their properties. They are going to need a lot of support.

By all means, please share the article with your friends and family on your social channels. This is going to be an important moment for rural Western Australia and we're going to need the support of Perth and the SouthWest to protect the entire State.
Have a chat with your teenage children about their thoughts, open up a discussion about the impacts they will be dealing with if the decision for fracking is made in its favour. They too have a right to decide how this will play out.
You could talk with them about the types of food West Australian farmers grow: oranges, mangoes, almonds, a variety of vegetables, lamb, beef, oats, wheat etc and the importance that water plays for the stability and longevity of food production in Australia.
The next step would be to encourage them to participate and contact the Premier:
- Be sure to leave your location, name and thoughts on fracking.
- Ask that he formally receive the petition from Holly Martin and meet with local farmers from the MidWest.
