To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of Western Australia:

Over 121 years ago, the people of Western Australia voted by a small majority to join the Federation of the Commonwealth of Australia. 87 years ago West Australians voted again - this time the result was a two to one margin to leave the Commonwealth. This second vote was never honoured.

The Commonwealth of Australia, despite being expressed to be a federation of States, has consistently acted to deprive the people and Parliament of Western Australia of the powers of a sovereign people and State, with the latest example being to seek to over-ride the clear wishes of the people of Western Australia in relation to quarantine measures.

We, the undersigned petitioners, ask that a new vote be held on whether Western Australia should seek to secede from the Commonwealth of Australia and be allowed to choose our own course as a free people. We also ask that the Parliament of Western Australia commit to honouring the results of this referendum using any and all legal means to do so if the result is in favour of secession.
