Heybourne Crescent/ Clayton Field Traffic Update January 2026
Whilst vehicle-activated 20mph signage was placed on the junction of Heybourne Crescent and Clayton Field in 2025, it has made no difference to the volume of traffic. Now the flats on Whitelea Place are being occupied, car traffic is increasing, and mornings and evenings are especially busy. Crossing is difficult, and speeding up Clayton Field whilst pedestrians are forced to walk in the road continues. Turning out of the carpark for residents is almost impossible; with the builders' hoardings and dangerous parking, it has become a blind corner.
Building work at Douglas Bader Park and deliveries to the new Tesco Express means heavy lorries are using the roads, bringing further danger and delay. We can't wait years for the Douglas Bader developers to put in pavements. The road must be blocked off or made one-way to ensure safety of the community.
