We want uncut and uncensored anime on Crunchyroll streaming, digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray

The Issue

We know that the creators of anime intended for us to see their work uncut and unedited and uncensored. Some may have censored versions because they still air on broadcast television in Japan during certain hours and their uncut and uncensored versions are better suited for home video(DVD, Blu-Ray) and Streaming platforms(Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Netflix, Prime Video exe) When Funimation got the uncut uncensored uncut versions of anime, that’s what they use for Blu Ray and DVD release and that always followed the uncut versions being released on their streaming platform. They can always use an age restriction setting if the uncut version if they where not fit for children. Crunchyroll has been king of censored anime in the western markets for years. Only a few anime titles are uncensored and uncut on Crunchyroll and as FUNimation’s library is moving over to Crunchyroll a majority of these do not include the uncut versions as of today. We demand that uncut anime be on Crunchyroll and carry over the Philosophies and practices of presenting uncut anime on FUNimation. We don’t believe there is nothing that can be done, we want Crunchyroll to say that they will do just that and act on it since FUNimation titles moved to Crunchyroll and continue to have uncut anime for years to come. If not we demand Sony to find or create an alternate outlet to keep opened and continue the presentation of uncut and uncensored anime on streaming platforms 100% accessible to all Crunchyroll customers and subscribers at no additional change. It’s also important that free add supported spending remains in place as FUNimation used this model too. Reasons below in the update as of 3/27/2022

We sign this petition because we don’t want to go back to where anime was heavily edited in order to air on broadcast or cable TV or to suite the style of a western distributor.

As of 02/09/2024 we are changing both the title, main image and rewriting part of our main mission statement to reflect the fact that FUNimation is scheduled to shut down as of 04/02/2024
