The Senate Republicans have introduced their new "healthcare" bill, with changes in it designed to bring conservatives on board. It's just as monstrous as their first version of Trumpcare, which would throw 22 million Americans off of health insurance, raise premiums for older Americans and no longer protect people with pre-existing conditions. Please read the attached New York Times article for more information on the new bill. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is working his tail off to get this passed, as soon as next week! Don't let reports of some Senators' reluctance to vote "yes" fool you. McConnell is calling all the "no" and "undecided" votes into his office to see what he can give them to change their vote to a "yes." Even if you've already called them (and thank you to those who did!!), please call your Senators today and ask them to vote "no" on this monstrous new version of Trumpcare. Talking points and calling information are below: GOT A REPUBLICAN SENATOR? 1) As your constituent, I DO NOT want you to vote "yes" on the new version of the Senate healthcare bill because it will hurt me and my family. 2) Tell your own personal story about how the bill will hurt you. Or, you can say that the new bill will still remove protections for pre-existing conditions, raise premiums on older Americans and cause tens of millions of people to lose healthcare insurance. This is cruel and unacceptable. NOTE: If the Senator or his staff try to argue with you (they've been lying and saying their awful bill won't hurt people), tell them you don't believe them and will hold them ACCOUNTABLE for their vote when they're up for re-election. 3) The way to proceed on healthcare is to leave Obamacare INTACT and make fixes to the program -- fixes that experts have said could make the program more affordable and better. GOT A DEMOCRATIC SENATOR? 1) Thank you for taking TOUGH actions to fight the GOP healthcare bill! 2) Please keep up all efforts to slow the Senate to a halt and to filibuster by amendment the Trumpcare bill if McConnell decides to bring it to the floor. An operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request. 2) If you don't know the names of your Senators, the operator will tell you their names, if you give them the name of your state. 3) You'll have to call the switchboard TWICE to speak to both of your Senators -- and do leave a message for both!
