Petition updateWe want to see Trump's tax returns.URGENT: The Senate is Planning to Repeal-Replace Obamacare in a Few Weeks

Something really disturbing is happening under the radar. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his GOP cronies are slyly and quietly moving ahead with plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) in the next few weeks and replace it with their inferior version of Trumpcare.
Now I know this isn't related to Trump's tax returns but I also know that many of you don't want to lose your health insurance or see friends and neighbors go bankrupt if Trumpcare replaces Obamacare.
Here's what's happening and it's pretty sneaky and evil. You may have heard some GOP Senators talk about how there's "little chance" of their Trumpcare bill passing. That's a bunch of baloney and may be part of the GOP's strategy to get it passed.
From the New York Times:
"On Wednesday, Mitch McConnell formally started a fast-track process for the Senate to consider the House’s health care bill... They know that their health care plan is extremely unpopular. It’s a reverse Robin Hood plan that would take insurance away from or worsen coverage for the middle class, poor, sick and elderly and use the savings to cut taxes for the affluent. That’s why the plan is opposed by experts across the ideological spectrum, as well as groups representing doctors, nurses, hospitals, cancer patients, heart-disease patients and many others.
By downplaying the odds of passage, senators are able to reduce the amount of attention and public opposition that their deliberations might receive. Meanwhile, they are moving quickly and almost entirely behind closed doors to come up with a bill that makes only modest changes to the (horrendous) House-passed bill (that will bump 23 million Americans off of health insurance)...
Democratic aides have grown especially worried that the Senate will pass a somewhat vague bill and then claim that they’ll fix any problems in a process known as conference — when the House and Senate negotiate over differences between bills that each have passed.
The whole game is distraction. The only way that the House could pass such an unpopular bill was to keep people from focusing on the substance of the bill, while rushing it through, and the Senate now seems to be following a version of that strategy."
So what can you do about all of this?
You can call both of your Senators IMMEDIATELY, particularly Republicans, and make these asks:
1) As your constituent, I DEMAND to see the Senate's Trumpcare bill that is being written behind closed doors.
2) If the Senate's Trumpcare bill doesn't offer protections for people with pre-existing conditions, or if it bumps millions of people off of health insurance, it is IMMORAL AND UNACCEPTABLE.
3) Leave Obamacare intact and make fixes to the program -- fixes that experts have said could make the program more affordable and better.
4) If you vote for a weak Trumpcare bill that hurts tens of millions of Americans, I will work to defeat you in your next election.
Here's how to reach your Senators.
1) Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. An operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request.
2) If you don't know the names of your Senators, the operator will tell you their names, if you give them the name of your state.
3) You'll have to call the switchboard TWICE to speak to both of your Senators -- and do leave a message for both!
If your Senator's line is continually busy or mailbox full, try the next day. Sometimes Senators deliberately avoid talking to constituents when they don't want to hear what they have to say. You can also Google the phone numbers of their offices in your state and leave your message there.
Thank you!
