It is now ten years since Shrewsbury Town Football Club left Gay Meadow for pastures new at Oteley Road. In doing so, the club moved from a ground which boasted a capacity made up predominantly of standing terraces, to one with no provision for standing spectators. It has always been our view that supporters deserve the option to stand if they wish, and that the New Meadow should have allowed for this from the start.
However, we now have a chance to rectify this, with the club giving the go-ahead for the installation of a "safe standing" section in the South Stand at New Meadow. If it can be successfully crowdfunded in time, the safe standing section will in operation THIS SEASON.
We fully support this initiative, which is the brainchild of the STFC Supporters' Parliament, and encourage all Town fans to dig deep and contribute what they can by visiting: https://www.tifosy.com/shrews?scout=13364.
Also note, should our link attract the greatest number of donations (as seen on the leaderboard of the crowdfunding site) , we will also be able to offer two fans the chance to win two tickets to Borussia Dortmund's Yellow Wall.
So don't delay, donate today!
