We the People Need a 4th Federal Stimulus Check
We the People Need a 4th Federal Stimulus Check
The Issue
The federal government has done a terrible job responding to the economic state of the country. Americans are struggling on a daily basis. Millions cannot survive and have plunged into abject poverty. Families were bailed out by the previous stimulus packages that included life-saving programs such as the child tax credit, enhanced, expanded unemployment benefits, student loan forbearance and of course, direct payments or stimulus checks.
While COVID has dwindled, the people are dealing with another pandemic, record high inflation. The inflation data is getting worse and worse every month and it's showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. We are likely in a recession already, although, the government refuses to acknowledge it and is attempting to change the definition. During almost every recession the US has faced, stimulus checks have been sent out. The last check was delivered over one and a half years ago. It is time for another stimulus payment.
Some economists may argue now is not the best time to be providing relief, however, according to studies done after stimulus was sent to the people, these checks and programs rescued tens of millions from falling into deep financial strain. Had we not sent these checks, we would have seen mass suffering and hardship like we have never seen before.
The monetary impact of COVID continues to afflict Americans on top of rampant inflation, supply chain issues, stagnant wages and now the uncertainty surrounding monkeypox. The country was shut down before and it could very well happen again for this new threat.
It is abundantly clear we must provide immediate relief in the form of another stimulus package. While some states have sent out state checks of their own, not everyone is eligible for those checks and most states have done nothing at all for their residents. Please sign this petition and share it with your friends and family. We will make our voices heard and will not stop until Congress and the President acts.
