WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND A CEASEFIRE: A Letter to POTUS & The U.S. Government

WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND A CEASEFIRE: A Letter to POTUS & The U.S. Government
The Issue
The U.S. Government, with the help of our tax dollars, is complicit in funding and supporting the Israeli government’s ongoing genocide and ethnic-cleansing of the Palestinian people. We need a ceasefire NOW, an end to Israeli occupation and apartheid, and to remind the entire governing body of the USA that they work for us.
We the people are taking our power back from our corrupt politicians who’ve been bought by billionaires, corporate and military lobbyists, and letting them know that we will no longer be accepting the status quo.
President Biden,
We are disgusted with you and our entire governing body. We pay taxes and vote people into congress to represent us, not corporate and military lobbyists, using our money to commit war crimes across the globe, and especially not to fund genocide.
Your apathy towards how many innocent human lives have been lost and continue to be lost every day the U.S. refuses to call for a ceasefire in Gaza is repulsive, at best. We are ashamed we voted for you as "the lesser of two evils," and certainly won't make that mistake again.
Our UN ambassador vetoed a ceasefire again on December 8, 2023, and we continue to watch in tears as innocent people run for their lives to escape bombing, white phosphorus, snipers, tanks and more. And still, you do nothing.
The United Nations General Assembly came together in the days following yet another U.S. veto for an immediate ceasefire and resoundingly passed the "Uniting for Peace" resolution. There was a brief glimmer of hope that the indiscriminate bombing of innocent Palestinians in Gaza (as well as the imprisonment, torture, and more of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank) would finally come to a halt.
But alas, the following day, Netanyahu not only ignored the resolution but doubled down saying he would continue his heinous attacks, even without international support. Your vapid response was to say that Netanyahu must “change” his government, while in the same breath vowing “unshakeable” support for the Israeli Government's war crimes.
Some more notably egregious statements you made include saying that despite the Israeli Government’s refusal to heed calls for an immediate ceasefire, that “in the meantime, we’re not going to do a damn thing other than protect Israel in the process” and “we’re not going to…walk away from providing Israel what they need to defend themselves and to finish the job against Hamas.”
Your statements, time and time again, are not only sickening, but make it clear with whom your allegiance lies—and it is not with the American people that you swore an oath to protect and represent. This comes as no surprise, considering your decades-long friendship with Netanyahu.
Your flippancy toward the severity of the situation is nothing short of abhorrent, and your statements show complete disregard for the will of the majority of the American people. We the people are very much aware that you have been bought by AIPAC, among other Pro-Israel lobbying groups, and only care about profiting off of war and stealing other countries’ resources at the expense of human lives.
You’ve already shown your lack of care and humanity for your own citizens; now you’ve co-signed a genocide before our eyes, using our tax dollars, while telling us it’s for our “security.” We are not safe with a government that denies and justifies genocide. We’ve watched this unfold with our own eyes, yet you insult our intelligence claiming “self defense” and prioritizing the release of hostages from Hamas as your main concern.
Your stated goals to prioritize the release of hostages were already lip service—considering that the IDF has been indiscriminately bombing the entire strip, without knowledge of where the hostages are, putting them in danger of being killed by the very government claiming to try and get them home safely—but even more so now that the IDF has admitted to killing three Israeli hostages (while they were waving white flags, no less)! It is clear that the hostages are not a priority, as our government turns a blind eye and accepts the excuses provided by the IDF, allowing them to skirt accountability for their war crimes, as usual.
Your public rebukes toward the Israeli government's actions are as feeble as your actions at preventing further loss of life. Your words are useless, your actions are nonexistent, and your refusal to acknowledge the reality of the situation is obscene.
POTUS, alongside Congress, have chosen to support The State of Israel/Netanyahu’s interests over your own citizens cries for a ceasefire.
Words cannot even begin to describe how sickening your “unshakeable” support for the Israeli Government's actions are and continue to be, each day that you justify the inhumane slaughter of over 23,000 innocent people (and counting), not to mention those who are injured and unable to receive care, dying of thirst and starvation, and/or displaced due to this horrific genocide and ethnic-cleansing.
How do you sleep at night, collecting your checks from Americans already struggling to make ends meet or already houseless, claiming you can’t afford to help your own citizens, while simultaneously sending billions in military aid and additional arms to the IDF to continue their genocide?
Thus far, the Democratic Party has done an excellent job of convincing us that you are the lesser of two evils, and if only we vote you back in, you’ll prevent the GOP from enacting legislation that chips away at the rights of our most vulnerable citizens. You’ve failed to keep your campaign promises every time we “voted blue no matter who,” and now, the veil has been lifted. It is abundantly clear that you are nothing more than two wings of the same bird—You all collectively bolster and protect the interests of the top 1% and corporate lobbyists, and are mainly focused on expanding your military foothold across the globe. Enough is enough, and we will not stand for it any longer.
As you take your private jet to your next press conference to feign compassion, REMEMBER: the blood is on your hands.
We will NEVER forget, and we will NEVER forgive you. The longer you ignore our calls, the louder we will get.
We the people DEMAND you call for an immediate, permanent ceasefire; put an end to the Israeli government’s illegal occupation and apartheid; and support the Palestinian people in obtaining their inalienable human rights to complete self-determination and liberation.
These are our demands, and they are non-negotiable. PERIOD.
