In the photo are the members of the St. Thomas/St. John Youth Scholastic Chess Club who traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 2023 US Chess Federation National K-12 Chess tournament. These talented Virgin Islands young people and many more not included in the photo continue to be overlooked and excluded by the Virgin Islands Chess Federation.

Over a year after filing this petition and after numerous emails to people in positions able to initiate change, essentially no progress has been made. Silence is complicity.  If you know anyone in the VIOC or the IOC or FIDE or the VI Government, please reach out to them and express your concern. As Attorney Carrington said, “Our youth are the branches of our tree.” WE ALL need to make sure that ALL of our Virgin Islands children have the opportunities they deserve. Thank you.
