The Issue

We, the people of Pakistan and concerned citizens around the world, join Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, the sons of Imran Khan, in demanding an end to the inhumane treatment of their father, Imran Khan.

Imran Khan, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and the nation’s most popular leader, supported by an overwhelming majority of its 250 million citizens, is being held in solitary confinement, denied all basic human rights, and subjected to psychological torture under a regime widely acknowledged to be installed by a military coup disguised as democracy.

His sons, Kasim and Sulaiman Khan, have now broken their silence. What they have shared is nothing short of a humanitarian emergency.

Watch Kasim & Sulaiman's Interview

"He is completely alone. No doctor. No visits. No electricity. No light. No contact. Not even a phone call. A 7x8 foot death cell meant for terrorists, that’s where they’ve kept him for nearly two years."

This is not incarceration. This is slow, deliberate, state-sanctioned torture.

This is what Imran Khan is enduring today:

  • Confined to a “death cell”, designed for death row inmates and terrorists
  • Held in prolonged solitary confinement; with up to 10 days in pitch black darkness
  • Denied court-mandated weekly phone calls to his children
  • Denied medical access despite being shot three times, and now aged over 70
  • Denied basic human contact, reading material, legal representation, and family visitation
  • Subjected to unpredictable and rare phone calls, used as emotional warfare
  • Censored from all media; his name, face, and legacy actively erased from public memory

And still, he remains unbroken. His sons say he spends his days reading scripture and history, preparing plans to rebuild Pakistan, not for himself, but for a people crushed under authoritarian boots.

We must act now.

This is not a political dispute. This is a blatant violation of international law and every principle of human dignity.

Pakistan is a signatory to:

  • The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)
  • The Convention Against Torture (CAT)
  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)

Imran Khan’s treatment is in direct contravention of:

  • ICCPR Article 7: Protection from cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment
  • Article 10: All persons deprived of liberty shall be treated with humanity
  • UDHR Article 5 & 9: Protection from arbitrary detention and torture
  • CAT Article 2: No exceptional circumstance may justify torture

In July 2024, United Nations Human Rights Council concluded that the detention of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was arbitrary and in violation of international law.

Our appeal to the international community:

We demand that international organizations, humanitarian institutions, and governments of conscience:

  • Publicly condemn the inhumane treatment and illegal detention of Imran Khan.
  • Demand immediate access to Imran Khan by international observers, physicians, and legal counsel.
  • Launch an independent investigation into prison conditions, suppression of opposition, and ongoing rights violations in Pakistan.
  • Pressure the Government of Pakistan and its military apparatus to release Imran Khan unconditionally.
  • Hold accountable those responsible for this political persecution and breach of international law.

The people of Pakistan have chosen him, again and again, through their votes, their voices, and their sacrifices. And yet their will has been stolen, their votes nullified, their leader thrown into a cell.

This is our plea, as sons, as daughters, as citizens of a world where democracy should mean something. Do not let them bury him in silence.

Raise your voice. Demand his freedom. Sign this petition.
