WE STAND STRONG AGAINST CHILD ABUSER AND MOLESTER
The Issue
My name is Cristina Doan. I graduated at the top of my class at UC Berkeley, made the Dean's List three times, and was granted High Honors and High Distinction in the Department of Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley. My work with the community caught the attention of many world-changers, and I have been honored to meet Bill Clinton, Angela Davis, Dylcia Pagan, Ericka Huggins, among many others who have positively influenced communities around the world.
In 2009, I was awarded the Princeton University Certificate of Honor for outstanding efforts to end racism on my high school campus in San Jose, CA. I am a published author of two books being sold worldwide on Amazon.com. I am a singer and a guitarist, a cartoon artist, a motivational speaker, and an inspiration to many disadvantaged communities. I have taught math and English in many at-risk areas such as East Oakland, East San Jose, and South Central. I have dreams of getting a Masters Degree in Counseling at UNLV with a specialization in helping people all over the world recover from substance abuse. I want to open a private practice office to help people that want to overcome insurmountable obstacles.
I am now homeless on the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada due to the actions of an abusive, sexually assaulting man. He is a Vietnamese American man in his forties who married my mother when I was in fourth grade. Throughout my life, he has beaten me with sticks, has thrown a knife at me, choked me with a jacket zipper and left choke marks on my neck. But the worst part was that he sexually abused me.
Throughout my childhood he would grope me and ask me to "show Daddy some love." When I was 14 years old, he groped my breasts against my will and said, "Come here and show Daddy some love. Daddy just wants to touch your boobs and see how much you have grown." I was so traumatized by him molesting me that I blacked out and could only recall details slowly over the years. What I do know is that what he did was very wrong, and I told my mother only for her to do nothing for ten years. I was thrown out of the house as a teenager for speaking up about the abuse. He told me to tell cops that it did not happen, and of course I did what he said because I was afraid for my life. I was accepted into UC Berkeley with zero dollars to my name and no financial aid because he made $100,000 a year. He never gave me a dime because he said he was "struggling financially" -- with a pricey house, several luxury cars, flat screen TV's, iPhones, iPads, and several properties in Texas. I was homeless several times throughout college and left out on the street to be sexually assaulted over and over. Although I have accomplished much despite all this going on, there comes a point where I need help. I am 24 years old now, homeless on the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada, because of this man's constant terror against me.
I urge communities worldwide to put this man to justice before he harms other young children. He currently has two young sons living with him and I am horrified at the possibilities of what is going on in that household.
I urge communities worldwide to sign a petition, at least agreeing, that what this man did was wrong. If he is free to roam the world, our communities will not be safe.

As Maya Angelou once said, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you." This is my untold story that I held in for years because I was afraid for my life and never had enough money to put these men to justice. She told her story, after surviving rape as a child, and went on to earn 30 honorary degrees and a nomination for the Pulitzer Prize for her writing.
Let us not forget her message to the world, to love yourself enough to stand up for yourself.
