We, devoted readers and longtime fans of the Harry Potter book series, are deeply disappointed by the direction taken with the upcoming TV adaptation.

One of the most alarming decisions is the casting of Severus Snape. As written by J.K. Rowling, Snape is a deeply complex and brooding character—intelligent, conflicted, and emotionally restrained. His appearance, demeanor, and the intensity of his presence are central to his identity.
