There is a mining company wanting to destroy CRITICALLY ENDANGERED FLORA (according to the ecological survey done) from Duiker Island all the way to St Helena Bay. The area is home to a wide variety of bird and wildlife that will be negatively impacted by these activities.

This project will more than likely have a negative impact on tourism to the area affecting livelihoods of the local community as well as a negative impact on property values, especially for those in retirement years who have invested in this coastal area for their retirement.
