We Need Your Help!!! We Need Government Assistance For Single Adults!!!

The Issue

  • I am a single female with no income and no insurance due to health problems.  I am suffering needlessly,  wasting my life away, and will die an unnecessary early death while I could possibly be employed right now with medical assistance and medications.  I could actually be living and enjoying my life!  Our local laws are preventing this.  There is no help or assistance for single people with no children.
  • GA Medicaid requires one to have children, be over 65, blind or disabled.  All others are exempt and stuck in this in-between status.
  •  I contacted Healthcare.gov under Obamacare in order to obtain some type of insurance until I could be definitively diagnosed and treated.  It was outrageous and paid little to nothing. *Most people are unable to do this because, again, no income.
  • Healthcare.gov and numerous other insurance companies advised me to contact my state Medicaid office since I am unemployed and have no insurance. All of them told me I would definitely fall under my local states Medicaid program.   Then they advised me that they were unaware of GA's strict guidelines and could not help me. Since Medicaid laws vary from state to state, I may be covered elsewhere but not in the state of Georgia.
  • I have worked my entire life since I was 15. I was diagnosed with an auto immune disorder with possible Multiple Sclerosis.  The Multiple Sclerosis unfortunately cannot be diagnosed with one office visit. I worked until I was unable to continue and filed for disability. It was denied as I needed updated medical records. Plus I need a definitive diagnosis on the MS. How can I get those with no income or insurance?  It would require multiple office visits and testing.
  • I know there are tons of people who may not have the same story, but are stuck in the middle and unable to receive any assistance from anywhere. It's sad to me that I must have kids in order to qualify for assistance. We shouldn't be encouraging people to have kids.
  • Right now if I have kids, I can get assistance, and be perfectly healthy. I have no kids, am sick, and can get nothing. Our government could help those who truly need help.  Please help us get back to work!
  • One other roadblock is requirement of income of every person in the household for any type of assistance, i.e. Medicaid, Food Stamps, SNAP, etc.  I understand if one is married but alot of people try to go back to live with parents or friends to keep from being homeless.  It's not my business how much others bring in and I'm not asking.  I don't live with parents and was still grilled about other people in the house and their income for food stamps previously. Parents are treated differently than friends because for some reason parents are responsible for taking care of you even when you're an adult under the guidelines. Even when you are pregnant or have a child of your own.  That is wrong. They still need assistance and help.  Every person I know who tried to go back home was denied help.  That mother needs help and most definitely the child.  In that situation, you can't get help even with children.
  • You can however get Food Stamps if you're single and practically homeless for $194 a month at approximately $6 a day for food. That's all. Also, it doesn't cover any non-food items. So no soap, toilet tissue etc. No SNAP or cash benefits for the non-food items either. That's only after extensive grilling on entire household income and who you live with.
  • Alot of GA residents need your help. We are suffering and dying needlessly.  These laws could be changed to help so many uninsured people get the help they need.
  • What about the things people take for granted?  High blood pressure, cardiac problems, diabetes, obesity, cholesterol, diet, mental health?  Are we really just kicking all these people to the curb to fend for themselves with no help?  These medical conditions are not going away.  They just get worse over time putting more people on disability, more people dying, or not getting the mental help they need and violence increasing.  Not to mention spreading more Covid and other deadly diseases because no one can get help.
  • I never thought about this or even realized it was happening until I was stuck in this situation myself.  There are many people who are lost in this loophole and just biding their time and suffering.
  • I realize I am rallying for a select group of people who may not have access to internet services or the means to get the information out there for the help that they so desperately need.  It may be your neighbor, your friend, your family. We need your help!  Together we can make a difference.
