In Loudoun county middle schoolers have to wake up and be at school by 8:50 and get out at 3:38. leaving the average interviewed student with only 4 ish Hours remaining until they have to go to bed. Many students end up with short attention spans and getting themselves in trouble when they lose focus or stop paying attention to lectures. if you plan it out students spend most of their waking hours in school leaving less time for socializing and family time. students often suffer from mental breakdowns and depression. this also causes an increase in county and school resentment as one student said "its almost like school prefers building resentment over our own happiness and well-being." the school days are longer than the time they spend at home awake a school day is 6-7-8 hours long kids don't enjoy school and often skip school or classes because of their lack of ability to pay the attention necessary we need to act now to shorten school days because some students hurt themselves or others because of their emotional troubles regarding school. so it needs to change before that happens even more. we need to help students and their mental health. Help now
