By signing this petition , I agree that the Watauga County Public Library, located at 140 Queen Street in Boone NC, needs to be expanded to accommodate our growing population. If expanded, this would mean more space for

• children's, teen, and adult programming
• more meeting and study rooms
• more adult leisure reading space (tables, chairs and power outlets)
• Digital Watauga work, genealogy, and local history 
• staff work areas and offices
• Friends work areas, storage and book sales

There is not enough space for children's programming, no dedicated teen area nor local history/genealogy room, not enough space for Digital Watauga work, and not enough meeting rooms and study rooms. Staff and the Friends group need more work space, storage, and book sale room. 

Our community is growing and this will positively impact everyone of all ages, particularly families with children. 

If we don't pursue expansion now , when will this happen? The library was built 1/3 smaller than intended 26 years ago and is far below the Essential tier in square footage according to the NC Library Facility Guidelines
