Recently, the entirety of the videogame ROBLOX has been falling apart under unnecessary updates and additions, most of which are doing the exact opposite of what they are supposed to.

Early this year, the ROBLOX corporation added major restrictions to the chat of the game, which has been the game's most famous feature for years.

Not only is this a tragedy, the technique they chose to use is highly ineffective and could be considered illegal in most parts of the world.

I'm, of course, talking about using AI to determine a person's age by them submitting a selfie of themselves, and then sort them into their "correct" agegroups. As we ALL should know, AI cannot accurately determine someone's age.

They claim this is to protect the children, but this actually makes it way easier for predators to access and take advantage of children.

For example, a 20 year old could easily submit a photo that makes them look 15 with the correct lighting and poses. The 20yr old would then be sorted into the 13-15 age group. This allows the 20 year old, grown adult, to chat with minors. On top of that, if the 13-15 year olds trust the moderation, the predator can easily just lie and say they were confirmed to be 13-15.

Not only that, but ROBLOX is directly asking minors and children to submit photos of themselves that most likely get stored in some database for who knows how long, and can be exploited and taken advantage of. This is especially considering ROBLOX's known problems with their security and moderation.

We need ROBLOX to get their things together. This is illegal. They are actively supporting child endangerment even if they aren't doing it on purpose.

They don't know what they're doing. We need a new CEO.
