Today at a presentation in front of the Old Animal Shelter for Uxbridge/Scugog the Township of Uxbridge received a cheque for over $1,100,000 from the Estate of Marlyn Rennie a lifelong animal lover. This amazing bequest will bring the total monies for the New Shelter for Uxbridge Scugog to over $2,800,000 (almost 3 million).
So there can be no more excuses from the Township for not doing something to improve the lives of the animals in Uxbridge/Scugog. Let's get back to the drawing board and start being creative with a new more workable design for the New Shelter that includes 1,200 sq ft. for a small Spay/Neuter clinic for the animals of financially marginalized residents. Low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinics become self-sustaining in about 3 years and start to lower Shelter intakes almost immediately. They are a win-win for all communities.
