Sutherland Council, BicycleNSW, Shire residents and community groups continue to strongly advocate that the the Sutherland to Cronulla Active Transport Link (SCATL) - a critical 'spine' for the Shire's active transport network - needs to be alongside the corridor. Urge State Government to reconsider its second-rate plans for SCATL and not to kow tow to claims that expensive fencing, tunnels and bridges are required to use the corridor. Many shared paths and cycleways in Australia are safely used without these additions, like the above photo of the Upfield Trail near Royal Park Station, Parkville. Committments have been made by State Government to build the East West Pedestrian Cycle Link (EWPLC) between Sydenham and Bankstown, mostly within the rail corridor. The Shire needs a good quality active transport network to compensate for the rapid increase in population.
