In Winter 2018, A Place Further Than the Universe (Sora yori mo Tooi Basho) captured our hearts with one of the most beautiful and inspiring stories in recent anime history. The four girls — Mari, Shirase, Hinata, and Yuzuki — who dared to travel to Antarctica together taught us powerful lessons about friendship, grief, courage, and pushing beyond our limits.
Over eight years have passed since the emotional finale of the 13 episodes. Many fans are still longing for a sequel — whether as a second season, movie, OVA, or special episodes. There are still so many stories left to tell: What happens to the girls after their return? What new adventures and challenges await them? And how do their friendships and personal dreams continue to grow?
A Place Further Than the Universe remains one of the most highly regarded original anime and maintains a very dedicated international fanbase. With today’s animation quality, new journeys and emotional moments could be even more breathtaking.
