Having been passed from pillar to post by government departments, we finally have a response to our Freedom of Information request for the number of uncertified meters currently in use:

"From our last annual survey, as of the 31 December 2023, suppliers reported 1,860,000 uncertified meters. OPSS are currently engaging with these suppliers with a view to extending the certification period of meter types where there is evidence these meters are still accurate."
