A plan for Plan A for all middle and high schoolers by April 7, 2021.

It has been over a year since 6th through 12th graders have been back full-time for in-person learning in Wake County.  Right now, there is no plan to return them under Plan A.  The governor has allowed for Plan A to happen.  It is up to the WCPSS School Board to move forward with a plan.

Our proposal is to have 6th through 12th graders back under Plan A by April 7, 2021.  This is the start of 4th quarter.  It will be nearly two months for teachers to have obtained the vaccine.  It will give the Board and schools three weeks to plan for the return.  It will alleviate re-entry anxiety that will inevitably exist at the start of the 2021-22 school year.

Too many of these kids are failing.  Too many are suffering.  Too many are not learning.  The cohorts don't work as kids are opting to stay home due to still learning on a computer while physically being in a nearly empty classroom.  There need to be in-person learning and in-person teaching.  And it needs to start for those who opted for in-person learning on April 7, 2021.

Enough is enough.  The WCPSS School Board needs a plan to return 6th through 12th graders back to in-person learning on a full-time basis by April 7, 2021.
