Easter with no Bells!

This is the most challenging Easter holiday weekend most of us can remember. Our usual rituals are gone, something the attached Tracks article on Bells speaks to so well. Here in NSW the police are going to be extra vigilant for anyone travelling without a lockdown legal excuse. 70's style localism is rising again with bad behaviour from some of those lucky enough to live by open beaches and many who flaunt the no travel law and crowd out locals at their beaches. All in all it's a terrible time, to be a surfer, for everyone.

This will be made much worse when a sizeable south swell hits on Sunday and is forecast to run on into next week. Outer reefs and bombies will be the only choice for those in the know.

But more than anything we all need to stay calm, not give the authorities more reason to clamp down further with over the top restrictions on ocean activities. We are already way ahead of most countries around the world in that we still have legal options to surf. Let's hold it together and work positively for rational laws with controlled access to safe, socially distanced surfing and swimming for all. We're in for the long haul and we're in it together.

So keep sharing the petition, now with a new text link https://www.change.org/SurferAccessToSydneyBeaches

Many thanks and Happy Easter!

Mic
