The Montclair Town Council meeting was last evening and if I understand the communication properly, we have made some positive progress on satisfying the goals of this Petition.

1. The Council voted unanimously to implement an immediate action to reduce the number of vehicles that can enter the intersection. Ordinance O-22-04 will update the traffic pattern for Watchung Plaza* to be Right Hand Turn Only. (*Watchung Plaza is the street with the bagel store.) There are a few steps to updating street signage and education on the new flow but we're cleared for these steps to take place.

2. There are multiple signals of proactive dialogue between the Township and the County with respect to implementing the traffic study in the coming weeks and months. As a reminder, the traffic study would represent a deeper dive into improving the overarching flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in The Plaza.

We'll continue to stay involved and report back with any new information as well if we sense any delays at which point we can take further action to raise our collective voices.

Our progress to this point has been a collective effort of our community, our community leadership as well as our local media outlets collaborating on the issue and working towards an effective and efficient solution - so a BIG thank you to everyone involved for your support.
