As Israel bombs Gaza relentlessly, we need to support the Palestinian people. The British government have failed us by abstaining their vote at the UN, so as students we are calling upon our University to put out a statement in support of the suffering and martyred Palestinians. The retaliation of the IDF after the events of October 7th have been unprecedented and are now edging a genocide. 

We want our University to use their platform and respectability and put out a statement. This is an incredibly troubling time for many Palestinian and Muslim students at the University, and for anyone who feels empathy for innocent families, and babies, as young as one day old being massacred. 

As students, this is incredibly close to our hearts and families. The academic year for 2023/24 has already ended in Palestine as all of the students have been killed. We hope that the University can support and sympathise with the people of Palestine as they have in the past with countries such as Ukraine. Universities are important institutions and should be obliged to support their students in this difficult time.
