Update on 445 Palmer Ave Development – June 10th Warwick Planning Board Meeting

At the June 10th Warwick Planning Board public meeting, only the developer’s lawyer appeared for the 445 Palmer Ave proposal. Roughly 30 concerned citizens showed up to voice opposition to the high-density development at this critical Rocky Point gateway location.

The lawyer requested a continuance because Pimentel, the author of the 22-page report, was sick. He also asked for a different type of meeting (without public participation) after seeing the strong turnout — that request was denied. The board granted a continuance, and the next meeting is now scheduled for August 12th.

We expect the developer may revise their plans (possibly returning to an earlier concept like 8 single-family homes or similar adjustments). However, any version is still likely to be a high-density project in this sensitive gateway area.

What This Means: Our strong community presence made an impact and was clearly noticed.
We have more time to stay organized and prepared.
We must keep the pressure on and make sure opposition remains loud and consistent.

Please continue sharing the petition, talking to neighbors, and getting ready for the August 12th meeting. I'll provide another update closer to the date with specific ways you can help.

Thank you to everyone who attended on June 10th (need more) — your voices matter and are making a difference.

Together we can protect the character of Rocky Point State Park and Open Space

Share the petition if you haven’t already.  Thank You!
