While we have welcomed the good news from the council about resurfacing three courts at VP Tennis Club, and appreciate their commitment to the club, our fight for further improvements is still very much alive.

Due to the fact that none of the floodlit courts received clean passes on the recent slip tests, the risk of injury from playing on these courts is deemed far too great and the club coach, Claire Pomfret, has unfortunately had to take the decision to stop coaching until the weather improves and the evenings get lighter. This decision could unfortunately last for several weeks or months so we eagerly await news from the council regarding when the resurfacing will take actually place.

We are also still pushing the council to give us written confirmation that all courts at the club will be resurfaced immediately after completion the Commonwealth Games in 2022 so full tennis activities can resume at the earliest opportunity. If this assurance is not received within the next few week then Claire may be forced to take the decision to permanently stop coaching activities at the club as long-term access to safe and secure courts cannot be guaranteed.

Our fight continues!
