The cliffhanger storyboard for my HIV episode arc. Takes place after Ozzy’s ghastly transformation and Riley’s escape from Strepfinger.

She’s walking back to Ozzy and Drix’s apartment/office, carrying Ozzy’s signature jacket in her arms. Her feet felt like heavy blocks of plaque, and her heart was even heavier. Ozzy and Drix’s neighbor Mrs. Katz greets her cheerfully, offering her some Kugel and a smile. She doesn’t even look up, staring ahead as she walks by with a blank empty look, her voice soft. Mrs. Kats looks after her in concern.

Riley enters the Jones And Drix Detective Agency, and a surprising sight meets her eyes; Drix was covered in party decorations that seemed to have spilled from the closet, including a banner that read ‘Happy Birthday Riley!’. The cold pill sheepishly smiles at her. Guess the surprise was ruined! Maria facepalms and shakes her head at her nerdy boyfriend, as Dander barks happily and bounds over to lick his master. Angie looks up, relieved she was saved from Mitosis, but now looks at her in worry. Her best friend’s face looked grave, and her eyes widen a bit as she sees she cradled Ozzy’s jacket in her arms.

Something terrible had happened.

And she’s not the only one to notice. Leah’s motherly instincts immediately take over at seeing Riley looking silently and painfully at a gift on the table for her. It was from Ozzy, his messy scrawl on the tag attached to the bow. She approaches quick and speaks to her gently, her hands on her shoulders as she reads her face/searches for injury.

All she could see was Riley’s glossy eyes, and her face tight and strained, like she was holding back a scream.

At the question she’d been dreading, Riley’s eyes begin to gush with tears, and her face twists in anguish. She shakily gasps, a sob escaping her, then she embraces Leah closely, starting to cry. Almost like a wounded animal. She clutches Ozzy’s jacket, filled with guilt and despair.

They sink to the floor together, as everyone else gathers around in concern.
