Warner Bros. and Universal Studios: Make All Butterbeer Dairy-Free and Vegan!
Why this petition matters

Unfortunately for all of us Wizarding World fans who want to avoid animal exploitation and dairy products, the Butterbeer™ at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ parks in Orlando, Hollywood, and Osaka contains milk from cows in the whipped topping and in the soda base of the hot version. Much like the members of Dumbledore’s Army band together to defy Umbridge, we fans of Harry Potter™ and Fantastic Beasts™ are banding together to make a simple request to Universal Studio’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter™: make the Butterbeer™ vegan and dairy-free!
Female cows across the country have their milk stolen away from their children and used for these drinks at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter instead. Mother cows on commercial farms are held in cramped, crowded filthy barns or lots, and are subjected to cruel industry-standard practices such as:
- Dehorning, a cruel practice where a cow’s horns are cut off with no pain relief
- Having their children taken away from them moments after they have given birth. (If the calf is a boy he will be sent to the veal industry. If the calf is a girl, she will be exploited for her milk, like her Mom.)
- Being sent to slaughter at around four or five years old after being used for milking for all those years. In comparison, the average age of a cow not living on one of these farms is twenty years.
Cow’s milk is also incredibly worse for the environment than even the least environmentally-friendly milk alternatives. For example, almond milk uses 8 gallons of water per pound to produce, whereas cow’s milk uses 90 gallons of water per pound to produce. It takes about 12 times as much water to produce dairy milk as it does to produce almond milk.
WE MUST FIGHT AGAINST THIS. J.K. Rowling has filled the Harry Potter™ and Fantastic Beasts™ series with many magical creature-loving characters who fight to protect all beings we share the world with, such as Luna Lovegood, Hermione Granger, Newt Scamander, and many more!
Please sign to urge Warner Bros.™ and Universal Studios™ to make all Butterbeer™ at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ vegan.

Dear Warner Bros. and Universal Studios,
We have been so inspired by the animal rights messages that J.K. Rowling has featured in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts books and films. Thus, we are sad to hear that the Butterbeer being sold at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter parks in Universal Studios contains dairy from cows.
We want as many people as possible to be able to indulge in this magical drink from our childhood, and by making the responsible and compassionate decision to replace the dairy milk with a plant-based milk alternative such as rice milk, coconut milk, or almond milk, we can make this happen. Cow’s milk is among one of the leading food allergies among both children and adults, is at least twelve times more harmful to our environment than non-dairy alternatives, and is cruel to mother cows who are turned into milk machines and who in turn have their children stolen from them.
So please, Universal Studios and Warner Bros., we implore you to make our favorite, frothy Harry Potter drink vegan so that all of us muggles can enjoy a magical moment at Wizarding World!
