Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy has submitted an application to the city's Community Preservation Commission (CPC) to acquire the Waltham Field Station for $14 million!

It would be terrific if UMass gave Waltham the land, but this is still an incredible opportunity, and the funds Mayor McCarthy is requesting are just what the CPC is there to support.

With those funds, the requests put forward by Councilors Darcy, Mackin, and Nabulime last year can move ahead, safeguarding the land in perpetuity.

But this isn't a done deal. The city council and CPC need to support this application, and the tenants need support ensuring that a new deed protects their rights.

What can you do to help?

• Come to the CPC meeting Tuesday at City Hall at 7 PM and show your support.
• Read this link posted by the tenants.
• Follow the tenants (Waltham Fields Community Farm and others) on social media to know if you can support them at the City Council meeting Monday.
• Call Waltham's city councilors to make sure they support this effort.
• Share this update and petition on social media and get more signatures!
