TOMORROW'S WALTHAM COUNCIL MEETING

Waltham CitizenWaltham, MA, United States
Apr 7, 2019

The Mayor of Waltham has asked the City Council to vote tomorrow night (Monday, April 8) on a "standstill agreement" with UMASS that prevents the university from taking action for a number of weeks while negotiating with the city.

This may seem promising, but the last time Waltham entered a similar land agreement with a seller, it was because negotiations were actually breaking down.

Can you take one of the following actions to support the Field Station?

1. E-mail or call the Mayor's office to say that you expect the city to conduct transparent negotiations to acquire and safeguard the entire UMASS property. mayor@city.waltham.ma.us | 781-314-3100

2. E-mail UMASS Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy to say that you expect UMASS to find a solution that ensures the tenants have a rental agreement for a year and the land is safeguarded. chancellor@umass.edu | 413-545-2211

3. Come to the city council meeting tomorrow evening at 610 Main Street, 7:30 PM.
