The town of Holly Springs is getting a new elementary school that is set to open for the 2018-2019 school year.  Our town has been growing at a rapid pace.  Holly Springs' population is expected to grow by 10,000 residents (30% increase) in the next four years.  Across the street from the new school there are 600 homes already permitted to be built.  

Due to the rapid expansion of our town, it is in the school system and the community's best interest to make proactive plans to accommodate for this growth.  

Currently, Wake County Public School Systems is proposing to open Buckhorn Creek Elementary on a traditional calendar with a capacity of 620 students.  The school will open at 81% capacity.  We are asking the school board to reconsider and open Buckhorn Creek Elementary as a year-round school which will increase capacity by 33%, adding an additional 200 seats for elementary students.  Our town is growing and we ask that our school system take a proactive approach to prepare.
