Green Hope just announced that they will be cutting our dance department next year in efforts to reduce the school’s staff sizes as we are losing about 200 students next year. However, at the same time they are adding many new classes to other departments that may or may not have a large amount of students that are interested in the course, whereas dance already has a large number of dedicated students. This is unacceptable, as the fine arts program was flourishing at Green Hope and this is a major setback. Dance is a way for students to relieve stress and expresses their emotions during the school day in an artistic form. Many students only take dance at school, which means they will no longer have access to this amazing art form. We hope this petition will get WCPSS attention, and get Dance at GH back as a department next school year, as it is a vital class. Please help us in our fight for keeping the fine arts at our school.
