As you may be aware our effort to reverse the highly damaging and unfair taxation of martial arts schools hit a few snags in recent weeks despite unanimous bi-partisan support in the Washington State House of Representatives. There is still hope but we only have 5 days left. We missed the traditional window to get our bill, (HB2334), passed when the Senate didn't call for a vote in Executive Session. But...it CAN still get done! Over the last week the phone calls, emails and office visits you made really helped us overcome the perception that this was a 'tax exemption' or 'tax preference' instead of fixing an unintended oversight. We secured a 'YES' from key Senators if it gets a vote. Right now it's in the hands of our Senators. They are struggling to deliver a balanced budget and any loss of potential revenue makes their job harder. It's going to be tough. Hopefully our message of fairness, value, consistency and right/wrong will overcome the conflict of interest cutting revenue.
