Hi VU-student!

With the newly discovered omikron variant, the findings from the Parool article and Christmas coming up, we do not think it’s reasonable and wise to force all students to physically come together to take an exam. You should be given the opportunity to take your exams online.

This will allow internationals to go home earlier, but most importantly: this will prevent us from bringing the coronavirus as a present to our perhaps vulnerable family members who we still want to see during Christmas. And if this is not possible under any condition, we want the VU to be more lenient when students cannot physically make the exam, because in period 1 this was not handled appropriately and they had to take their resit. 

From the second-year students of political science at the VU, this initiative started. To be clear, this should not be seen as a criticism, more as a question that is supported by hopefully hundreds of students. We all have to take our responsibilities in these strange times: I hope the VU wants to do the same
