Yesterday CUPE 391, the union representing Library workers at VPL, released a public statement regarding March 21st:
"Workers....disagree with the Board’s decision to accept the rental request from GIDYVR, featuring the speaker Meghan Murphy."
"The stress put on workers before, during, and after this event, has the potential for long-term damage that cannot be ignored or dismissed. Members have expressed, to the union and to management, symptoms of anxiety, fear, anger, and depression in both their professional and personal lives."

CATA is renewing our call for individuals and organizations to (soft) boycott the VPL:
"Considering the onslaught of anti-trans activity over the past year, now is the time for the VPL to feel the continued pressure to make the changes needed to ensure the protections of marginalized communities from hateful and violent rhetoric - something the VPL is well within their power to do. While the VPL does not make a profit from its space rentals, the VPL's reputation, funding, and mandate are bolstered by its programming and community partnerships."
