Edgemont Incorporation Petition has been filed
The quest to obtain voting rights for all residents of Unincorporated Greenburgh has not progressed. However, the Edgemont Incorporation Committee (EIC) filed a petition for incorporation with the Town in August, 2024.
A public hearing to hear objections to the petition was held on August 30. It was adjourned to (will be continued on) Sept 18 at 7:30 pm at Town Hall. A decision as to whether or not the petition is legally sufficient and can proceed to a vote will thereafter be decided by the Town Supervisor (Paul Feiner).
If the petition is found to be insufficient, the EIC has already announced that they will appeal the determination in court. Additionally, the Town voted earlier this year to retain legal counsel to evaluate the legality of the Village Law that was enacted by the State Legislature in 2023-24.
Our struggle for equal voting rights continues.
